   I had a post I named simpleart.co/panoramics. I decided I want this to be a page instead so I deleted the post. I tried to make the page but I got the url simpleart.co/panoramics-2 even though simpleart.co/panoramics doesn't exist.

   How do I get WP to let me use that url?

   Is post permanently deleted, or just moved to trash? Is there a category slug or tag slug panoramics?

   Thanks Knut! I had just hit the "move to trash" link but I didn't permanently delete the post.

   I just did delete it for good and I found a slug names "panoramics" (although it had a parent so I'm hoping this wasn't the issue) and I renamed it.

   Still can't change the url for my page to /panoramics though! Maybe WP needs some time to process the delete?

   I'm having a similar problem with categories:

   On my blog http://intelligentaudio.net

   I made a category at some point called tech-house

   I am not sure why, but this never got used and now all of my content, as well as a BUNCH that I put up and then deleted later, is in category called tech-house-2

   Now I have cleared my trash, I have WP Clean Fix and that is all up to date

   So I thought I would make a NEW category that I was hoping to be called tech-house

   But instead it made tech-house-3

   I have about 30 posts that are live in the tech-house-2 category and about 600 that are not and are coming up as errors in my webmasters account that I need to fix.

   I want to move the live posts to a new category - either tech-house-3 or ideally, tech-house -

   and then use a general bit of code to tell webmasters to ignore anything in tech-house-2

   Please can anyone tell me how I can get myself a category tech-house ????

   Is there any way to re-use this old category??

   I could REALLY use some help here and it would be greatly appreciated.

   @clarelarge:

   Slugs for categories are not quite the same issue. You sould open a new thread for this question.

   Hint: A tag with the same name?

   @camfortin: Sorry for the very late reply. Old slugs for post are stored in the postmeta table as _wp_old_slug. You may have to delete it, and then visit the Options Permalinks page. This will reset such things.
