[resolved] Deleted my siteurl and can't access my dashboard! (11 posts)

    I mistakenly removed the /wordpress from my siteURL in the wordpress dashboard and can no longer access my dashboard. I then added
    define('WP_SITEURL','http://body-rhythm.com/wordpress);
    right below <?php on wp-config.php.

    I also added
    update_option('siteurl','http://body-rhythm.com/wordpress');
    right below <?php on functions.php in the wp-includes folder.

    When I go to http://www.body-rhythm.com/wp-admin/ I get a parked page from my web host.

    Please help!

    Review the following link and try the methods there.

    I mistakenly removed...

    I hope you get it all straight without too much trouble, and I commend your admission of "mistakenly" rather than saying "accidentally"! ;)

    I did try adding that also - didn't work. Should both the wp-config and the functions be changed or just one or the other? And should the wp-config and functions address have a /wordpress at the end? (I have wordpress installed in a subdirectory called wordpress).

    ('WP_HOME','http://example.com');
    define('WP_SITEURL','http://example.com');
    or
    define('WP_HOME','http://example.com/wordpress');
    define('WP_SITEURL','http://example.com/wordpress');

    No, you should not be using more than one method. Start by removing anything you added to the wp-config.php file.

    Then read this carefully: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL#Edit_functions.php

    Use both lines and yes, use the filepaths to where your site is actually located.

    Thank you, but no luck. I deleted the code from the wp-config file and added
    update_option('siteurl','http://body_rhythm.com/wordpress');
    update_option('home','http://body-rhythm.com/wordpress');

    to the Gleam theme functions.php. I had been adding it to the functions.php in the wp-includes folder. I still get a 404 error on a parking page at the web host site.

    This gets a login:

    Make sure you've cleared your browser cache and cookies.

    That is great news - thank you! I can see the login screen but For some reason I enter my password etc and nothing happens. On Firefox it said I have an internet connection problem. But this is progress!

    Can you access other internet sites? If so, trying another browser can sometimes work.

    I'm not having a problem with any other sites. I tried both IE and Firefox.

    I added
    define('WP_HOME','http://body-rhythm.com/wordpress');
    define('WP_SITEURL','http://body-rhythm.com/wordpress');
    to the wp-config.php file and that took care of the problem.

    Thanks very much everyone!
