Delete cache and List files on Multi-site (1 post)

    Hi Donncha,

I noticed some inconsistent or confusing behaviour of "List all cached files" and "Delete cache". I'm running a multi-site install with WP Super Cache (dev version), Network-activated and in basic PHP mode.

First: The WP Super Cache settings page is available on multiple locations. The network has one Network Admin > Settings > WP Super Cache and on each site there is Tools > WP Super Cache AND Settings > WP Super Cache... But all of these show the same thing and are ONLY visible to Super Admin. The point of this escapes me.

Hitting "Delete cache" on any of the site setting pages will only clear the cache for that site (to be expected) but even on the Network Admin it only clears the cache for the main site which is a bit of problem. There seems no way to clear the cache for all the sites in the network except visiting each individual site and clearing from there.

Same thing with "List all cached files". Even on the Network Admin settings page it shows only the files from the main site. Except all the legacy cached files from all sites in the network are visible...

Also, clicking any individual X (for delete?) next to a cached file listed, first seems to remove it but after 'Regenerate cache stats' and 'List all cached files' it's there again -- with same age.

Would it be possible to :
    1. Get full network control form the Network Admin > Settings > WP Super Cache page
    2. Remove Settings > WP Super Cache on individual sites in a network setup
    3. Allow access for normal site admins to Tools > WP Super Cache but only have the Contents and maybe the Preload tabs available there...

Or would that mean a complete core overhaul?

WP Super Cache is the only seriously good caching candidate for Multi-site setups. It's not over-complicated to set up, works with Network activation and leaves individual site owners/admins out of the loop on settings that might break their site. It just needs some small rethink in workflow and access to make it perfect for multi-site. Let me know if I can contribute in development or testing in any way :)
