    Hi folks.

I am going to be away for a month, during which time I want to publish a couple of movie reviews I've already written (currently 'drafts'). I understand how to set a future date for publication of a post draft, but I don't understand how this actually works.

ie: If I were to set a future date and click on 'publish', does that mean the post will automatically be stored online somewhere and published on the set date without my having to do anything more? Can I just set and forget, in other words?

Or must I access the web and/or sign into my admin panel while away to activate the publishing of the post?

Once you set it up, it will automatically publish - you don't need to do anything.

What's actually going on is that the posts are stored in a database on the server, but WordPress won't allow visitors to see them until the specified date.

EDIT: By the way, when you're publishing to a future date, the button should say Schedule instead.

    Thanks, Odai. Sounds pretty neat!

Just to check that I understand your last comment, the "Publish" button changes to "Schedule" when a future publication date is set, and it's therefore "Schedule" that I click on to store the post on the WP database on the server?

    Cheers
    Ross

Yeah, it's just a visual thing. The button that usually says Publish changes to say Schedule.

So if you're ever scheduling a post and the button still says Publish, stop and double-check the date you put.
