   Is there a plugin for deferred payments based on a customer type? Like having them pay once it is shipped?

   I recently finished up a plugin to do that. Although rather than using a customer type, there is a user meta field on the user's profile that is only visible to admins.

   This could be altered, if you wish.

   okay, purchase order number now supported - displays on order confirmation page and in confirmation/invoice emails
