   Seem to have erased my default template inadvertantly so now the website appears wiped out - well, blank - on the surface. Don't know enough to know how to fix the problem!

   Upload all of the WordPress files to your server.

   Actually, I had this problem just the other day. All you need to replace, or upload would be index.php and wp-layout.css

   And once it's downloaded and saved - then how to get it in the right place?

   I know this is probably a silly question.

   You will have to FTP them to your server where your blog is located.
