   I think I'd like to enable people to set up a new subsite without me having to set it up. But the default role is admin.

   I've spent a lot of time creating new templates and editing user roles to give the correct amount of flexibilty and options I want. Is there a way to limit the new site owner's role to "editor" automatically??

   Hmm.

   http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/moderate-new-blogs/ would let you approve all new sites, which would also let you change their role, but that would be manual.

   This plugin - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/new-blog-default-user-role/ - hasn't been updated, and may or may not work. I think it would work, glancing at the code.

   I've never put this much effort or dedication into anything before. Hope it's worth it.
