Support » Fixing WordPress » Default 10-post home page on a different page?

  • Hi Guys,

This may be obvious but I can’t figure this one out…

I changed my default home page to be a specific post.

How can I still link now to a page that looks and functions like the usual default WP home page (with 10 posts summaries on the page)?

    Possible? Thanks.

    -Josh

  • create an empty page tiled “Blog” – or anything -News or Posts – whatever
    save it
    admin – settings – reading
set that empty page to be your posts page

    Hi Samuel,

Thanks for the direction. Now it seems like I have step one in place.

I followed your direction and none of my blog posts are showing up on that page (only the side bar, etc. is).

Do I need to place a piece of code in the “blog” post html, or in a template of mine to get them appear there?

    Thanks.

Nope…. you’ve set the page you made as your posts page in settings->reading?

it should work, as long as your page.php or whatever template you assigned to the page has the loop in place

Hmm, well what if my page.php template file does not contain the proper and necessary code?

What might the correct code be?

    Thanks.
