    Is it possible to deactivate a plugin for IE only? Lightbox is causing problems with the performance of some of my themes in IE, but I would like to keep the lightbox plugin activated for other browsers.

  • hmm. not that I’ve ever heard. I’ll bet there’s a way to hack around it but there’s not a “native” way to do that, if you know what I mean. I’ve never experienced any problems with lightbox and IE. What issues are you experiencing?

    When lightbox is activated, “Island After Sunset” theme will not load in IE. I have the themeswitcher plugin on my site, with four themes loaded. The other themes work with lightbox activated, but not “Island After Sunset.” I fear if someone using IE tries to switch to that theme, they will get frozen out of my site, because the themeswitcher “remembers”: which theme was last chosen and returns to it. My site is at http://www.firstcongucc.org/weblog/.

    Is it activated right now?

    Yes

    It works for me. In ie6 I can switch between all the themes.

    Really? And Lightbox works in IE? You can check it out on Photos page. I can’t routinely test IE because I have a Mac! By the way I checked out your site. Very nice! And you are a minister, too!

    I am :). That’s my “day job”. I do websites by night. On ie6, after choosing your Island After Sunset theme I can then go to the photos page and lightbox works perfectly. I’m sure it works on ie7 too, but I don’t have that installed.

    I do, and it does. However, on Misty Look and Falling Leaves I’m getting your If-IE code:

    < ![if lt IE 7]> < ![endif]> < ![endif]-->

    I think it’s supposed to start with “<!--[if lt IE 7]>…” Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

    That’s puzzling. I didn’t add any such code and can’t find it in any of the lightbox files. So lightbox is notg working in those themes?

    Lightbox does work with those themes, but we’re seeing that code up at the very top of the screen. jonlandrum is right in his fix. ensworth, check your header.php file for that line of code and make sure those two dashes are in there.

    It’s probably in the header section of the theme. I doubt it’s a lightbox issue, since it’s only appearing in the two themes.

    Thanks! Made the corrections in the “Falling Leaves” and “Misty Look” header.php files. Thank you both for all the help!

    You’re welcome.

    De nada. :o)
