    A friend built my wordpress website and it never worked really well.
    I put a ‘website under reconstruction’ message on the home page.
    I kept getting spam mail about this in various languages.
    I have moved on from that business and no longer require the website.
    I cancelled my hosting contract but I still keep receiving the emails up to 50 or more a day.
    I want to keep the email address. How can I de-install the wordpress website?

    If you’ve cancelled the hosting then they shoudl take care of that for you in due time. If you want to do it yourself you can FTP inot your hosting server and just delete all of the files in the directory. Taking it another step further you can also delete the WordPress database as well if you want to.

    None of these actions have any effect on your email address. Email boxes are mostly taken care of by your hosting company, os you might want ot check with them that the email address will still be available after you’ve cancelled the hosting account.
