DB and Gallery Problem in WordPress

Hi There all:

I have a problem in WordPress Gallery options. I can only insert full size images in a post or page. It will generate thumbs and mid size images, but no option to insert them. Had the radio buttons pre V2.7 but no buttons V2.7, like they said about now options not there if it is not. Inserting [gallery] in the post inserts full size images. Installed a test site on my server and everything works. Imported the old site to new one and everything still works. The new DB does not however contain the imported photos etc. I then installed the old DB to the test WordPress. The Gallery options then quit working again leaving the same problem. Installed the new DB and Gallery options returned. Problem might have happened when upgrading to 2.5 as I never got WordPress gallery to work. I made mistakes upgrading whilst learning how to run WordPress, as I am a 53 year old guy that knew nothing about running a web site when I started. Next Gen working fine. Can any one give me an idea how to fix the DB in this area.
