• Hi

I live in UK and unlike in US, the date format we use in Europe is DD-MM-YYYY.

CF7’s date entry is fixed to the US format of YYYY-MM-DD but the browsers that recognize the date field will show it reformated as DD-MM-YYYY. This causes huge confusion as there are no ways to give clear instructions.

If you put a a note to enter as YYYY-MM-DD, say Chrome, will show the date value as DD-MM-YYYY. Total confusion!

I think it is about time the author recognizes the European users and offers formatting option for date entry.

On the other hand, if I’m missing the obvious and there is already a solution I will be very much thankful for it.

    Cheers

    Riz

  • You’re right, the date format issue is one of the most annoying issues with CF7. I too wish that the author would code some consistency into date inputs. For example – the HTML5 on chrome allow a cool date selector to kick in, and in UK this seems to format dates as dd/mm/yyyy, but if you have IE or FF then this html falls back to entering the date in manually, and this needs to use the default format: yyyy-mm-dd. Even if you use the HTML fallback option (as detailed here ) then it too uses the default date format: yyyy-mm-dd.

Please, please, please – if the author is looking, can we please have some consistency between different date input methods, and preferably a european date format option – this is dd/mm/yyyy ??

Thanks, (the now hairless) Paul A

Thought I’d add, that the HTML5 fallback date picker (in FAQ article in my previous message) doesn’t work in IE8! (not sure about newer revisions). It doesn’t allow the month to be changed when clicking the right-left arrows – only the current month is available. In FF v20 its fine.
