   I've had database issues with yarpp last night, and would like to know if this is something that has happened to others before. The following process got stuck and blocked everything else for hours on end, before I finally killed it:

   INSERT INTO wp_yarpp_related_cache(reference_ID,ID,score)(SELECT 58, ID, (0+(MATCH(post_content) ...

   (Copying to tmp table)

   I'm still running yarpp 3.1.9 and will upgrade shortly, but I'd still like to know if anyone has experienced these issues, and/or it's about a known bug that has been fixed in the current version (changelog doesn't look like it).

   (a) you should upgrade to YARPP 3.2.2
   (b) check the FAQ in the readme for information on less computationally taxing settings.

   Thanks for the reply. Like I said, I will upgrade shortly, but I'd also like to make sure I understand why this happened, because I don't want it to happen again. If this isn't a known bug, upgrading straight away will leave me with the false hope that the issue won't return (and I regard it as a serious issue, since it'll take my entire database down, and keep it down until someone notifies me).

   To be honest, I somewhat doubt this is about computationally taxing settings. This is a fairly large server, and at the time this happened, the load is usually close to zero. Also, while the issue was ongoing (6 hours!), not a single line was written to wp_yarpp_related_cache which pretty much proves that the process was stuck, not busy. Or am I wrong?

   So I have updated now, and done most of what the FAQ say, but the problem persists. This is on a site with only 233 articles in the database. The insert gets stuck "writing to tmp table" for minutes and longer. I can send you the full query if you like.

   Never mind, it's all good now. Considering tags AND categories at the same time is what causes the issues. I thought I had already turned off tags, but apparently I hadn't.

   I've just worked through this issue on a client's site as well. In the end I concluded that YARPP was just too resource intensive for lots of posts with lots of categories and tags.

   It caused saving posts or updating posts to die, hang, or crawl on the site. You can see my thoughts on tracking down the issue at http://www.webmalama.com/yet-another-related-posts-plugin-yarpp-and-site-slowness/.

   YARPP is a great plugin, just not on my client's server with as many posts and tags as they have.
