Database of Links & Resources – Suggestions

One key “feature” I would like to create on my sites is a list or database of links to websites and resources that I have found over the years and believe my readers would find useful.

I have been trying to design a structure for the project for a while now and without much success.

Ideally the list could be searched by category, tag, etc. I would like to feature a thumbnail image of the site and a brief summary of what the site offers. Readers would scroll through the links (that would be organized hopefully) to find the resource they needed based on their needs.

Any suggestions on a direction or method?
