    Hi,
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I cannot get this to install. All I want is to create a wordpress install on my computer. I'm running debian unstable,
I've installed the mysql, wordpress and php packages.
Okay, I copied all the files in /usr/share/wordpress into
    my home directory ~/public_html/wordpress
I modified wp-config.php to have mysql name 'matt' my
database name 'mydatabase' and my password.
I point my browser at localhost/~matt/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php
    step one works fine
step two works fine, at the end, for blog location I change
    http://localhost to http://localhost/~matt/wordpress
step three generates a whole raft of Database errors, like this one
Database error: [Access denied for user: 'matt@localhost' to database 'mydatabase']
ALTER TABLE wp_categories ADD category_nicename VARCHAR(200) NOT NULL
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I can execute
    mysql -D mydatabase -u matt -p
    and it logs me in...
I'm new to SQL so I suspect that's the problem...
    Any help would be appreciated

It's a host restriction that you need them to change.
You need 'ALL' priviledges on the database.
