   Hello all out in WordPress land.

   I've been trying rather unsucessfully to get this resolved for the past week, and am turning to my last resort...you all. I am receiving the infamous database connection error when I try to access my site. The strange thing is that it was working perfectly fine and then suddenly stopped.

   I know the database servers are up and running, and I'm can access my databases via myPHPadmin. My passwords have not changed, nor has anything else.

   Any idea what could have caused this? I have replaced all of my wordpress files on the server, double checked all of my information, confirmed and reconfirmed that my MySQL server is up and running...and have no more ideas. Yikes!

   Any help you can provide would be awesome

   Try this.

   Delete the database user, create the database user again (you can use the same password), then associate that user to the database again.

   Michael,
   I tried what you suggested but had no luck. I've also tried to create an entirely new database, and new user...and it still has the same problem! EEK!

   Thanks for the suggestion though :)

   One thing that my host informed me of was that they had updated their mySQL version...could this potentially cause a problem? It seems to have started around when this upgrade happened.

   Yikes, new database, same problem. Then maybe it is the DB_HOST. Look in phpMyAdmin at the top of the screen in the right panel. Sometimes you can get a clue to the MySQL server (DB_HOST) there.

   The host name and location, given as a numerical value, is the one I've been using for the last year or so...and is still correct in my config file...oof! This is a tricky database connection error!

   Time for a call to your host. Also see if you have any messages in your log files that pertain...

   Thanks for the help on this matter...I certainly appreciate it.

   Today, I created a new database hosted on an entirely different server, independent from my usual host AND the same error happened! This leads me to believe there must be some other issue aside from the databases. Could some file become corrupt that could cause this? I have NO clue what the deal is!

   Well download a new copy of wordpress from the download link above and try that.

   Doesn't make sense.
