Database Connection

    I am a novice to MAMP and WordPress and am currently trying to install both.

    I have got as far as trying to configure wordpress but have been unable to setup the database connection and am not sure what I have got wrong.

    I have created a database in wordpress “davidcopus’
    I have taken the username and password from MAMP’s MySQL and entered them and the database name in wordpress into the setup config page, leaving the database host name and table prefix config as is,and every time it comes up with an error. As such am unable to fully install.

    I am desperate to get this done and also to then configure it with dreamweaver but have been ubale to find any support that i, as a novice can follow, and that actually works.

    Can anyone offer any constructive advice?

    When you created the new user in mysql, did you remember to grant it access privileges to the davidcopus database you created? I sometimes skip that step and am left wondering what’s going on for a minute or two.
