   I did the backup database using the Codex instructions and it saved the file as a .txt file?

   Am I doing something wrong or is this how it should be?

   Thanks for any help.

   A MySQL backup or "dump" file is just a text file, and though it will typically have a .sql extension, it doesn't look like you've done anything wrong from here.
