Dashboard Templates? (27 posts)

    Has anyone made templates for changing the look/colors/feel of the Admin Dashboard in 2.0? I rather like some of the changes that have been made, but the bright blue on brighter blue on white color scheme is enough to give you a migraine.

    thats a good question...i've been thinking about that too...

    i'd like to see it look like my site... i saw somewhere a plugin that lets you use the blog's css or something, but it didn't go the length...

    but yeah, the new colors are kinda annoying...it'd be nice to tone it down a lil

    No templates, but a bit of fiddling reduces the glare :)

    well...i don't know about the pink...lol, you can't really read the light blue text at the top...

    how do we change the colors? and is there a way to make the css use images like you can in the blog css?

    On that admin, the following were changed:

    #planetnews li a {
    display: block;
    padding: .5em;
    background: #FFF5EE;
    height: 6em;
    overflow: hidden;
    }

    #adminmenu {
    background: #8B7D7B;
    border-top: 3px solid #CDB7B5;
    margin: 0;
    padding: .2em .2em .2em 2em;
    }

    #wphead {
    background: #EED5D2;
    padding: .8em 19em .8em 2em;
    color: #c3def1;
    }

    #zeitgeist {
    background: #FFE4E1;

    and I have never been known for my colour coordination :)

    And you can do what you want !

    It's /wp-admin/wp-admin.css that you need to change.

    Get Firefox and the Web Dev toolbar and play.

    Ordered List has an admin theme that was used in WordPress 1.5 and he has also upgraded it for 2.0 use.

    I just changed some of the graphics that are in that plugin as well as some of the colors in the css... i really wanted something more easy on the eyes... so i used the mozilla site as a frame of referrence... props the "ordered list" for making such a kick-ass plugin to do this!!

    the title graphic i made for my site, but it'd be easy for anyone to edit that... if you wanna try it out just go to my homepage, and then add the following to the end of it...

    /wp-content/files/wp-admin-tiger.zip

    here is a screenshot... just add that do my homepage URL...

    wp-content/files/theme.jpg

    add, wp-content/files/wp-admin-tiger.zip to download the theme...

    hmmm...i just checked it... it doesn't for some reason...i honestly have no idea why it doesn't... all i did was edit the images that come with the plugin... you'll prolly have to ask the guy who created the plugin...sorry

    yeah well, the one who created the plugin originally states on the download page that because IE doesn't support CSS2, this interface doesn't work in IE. So I thought maybe you did more than just image changes!! :)

    oh... no... maybe there is some sort of plugin or hack for IE that would make it work...

    just googled the issue, no luck... the only thing i can think of is to switch to firefox

    huh, if it were me, I wouldn't switch to firefox just to use a cool looking theme in wp-admin!! too much of a hassle!! ;)

    there are many more reasons to switch...other than to use the theme or have a better browser...lol

    better browser?? one thing that's better for a person might not be for another person!! ;) its just a point of view!! who says IE ain't a better browser? it sure is, if you know how to force it into submission!! :)

    now don't start the sales pitch(or a flame war)!! :P

    browsers aren't new to me, nor to you I think. we are past that stage(I think I'm) & use what's best for us. :)

    anyway, I do have FireFox installed, as well as Opera!! ;)

    Ok,
    Along this discussion I would like to get rid of that upload stuff in 2.0 in the write section. Can anyone tell me how to do it?

    Thanks
