Dashboard problems – incomplete sidebar?

    Hi there
    I’ve installed WP, and now want to design my site – but the dashboard seems incomplete. The sidebar on the left only contains “dashboard”, “profile” and “tools” – should there be other options? If so, how do I get them?

    If you are logged in with sufficient privileges, there should be more options.

    If you are logged in as the admin account that you are forced to setup on install, then yes there is a problem. Try re-uploading your wp-admin and wp-includes directories. If you’ve logged in as some other user then that user might not have permissions enough to see the rest of the dashboard. login as admin and see if you get more options.
