• Ever since I upgraded to 3.0.4 I have a problem/error with my dashboard and posts. I upgraded automatically through the WP admin panel.

With my dashboard when I login on the far right column under “WordPress Development Blog” and “Other WordPress News” the area just shows “Loading…” but it never actually loads. I’ve left it for over an hour and nothing happens. See the screen grab here: http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/2886/screenshot20110109at112.png

With my post screen some of the posting options above the field where you enter content have disappeared and I no longer can see the actual visual content (images/text) of the post. Even though I have “Visual” selected it shows as HTML and even then I can only see the code when I highlight it. See the screen grab here: http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/2886/screenshot20110109at112.png

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • I had this when I upgraded and it was something my host fixed for me. I think for some reason the server was stopping the javascript from loading in the post editor screen which meant the visual tab was not working.

I would also suggest that it is something to do with your host regarding your RSS widgets not loading on the dashboard. Looks to me as though something is blocking the feeds from coming through.

Speak to your host about these issues and I am sure they will be able to help.

Thanks equalmark, I will contact them. Do think this is what is causing the post problem as well?

I contacted my host and they pinpointed the problem as being using WordPress with WebKit based browsers such as Chrome. When accessing my admin panel using Firefox I don’t have the issue.

I really hope WordPress solves this with the next update as I prefer to use Chrome.

I have kind of the same issue with my fresh 3.0.4 installation. The Rich Editor on posts/pages isn’t shownig up, nor does the Dashboard:

I have checked in Safari, Firefox and Chrome. Same issue everywhere.

EDIT: The Dashboard seems to be cut off after the div called “metabox-prefs”

I’m now on my work computer using the most up to date version of Firefox and the issue is back. Not sure why it was working with my home computer using the same version of Firefox last night. Chrome and Safari still don’t work either.

Is there anyway to contact WP to get this issue resolved?

I had this exact same problem: Dashboard items not loading, and post edit getting stuck in html mode.

I was able to fix the issue by manually replacing my wp-includes folder. I’m guessing there was an issue with the js files, but I can’t be 100% sure.

Try to manually replace your wp-includes file. Hopefully that will do the trick. Good luck.

Thanks andypitre. I’m going to give this a go. Here’s hoping it works!

    It worked! Thanks so much!

I’m glad it worked, but I have an unfortunate update. It looks like I may have spoken a bit too soon.

As of this morning, the same issue came back. I re-uploaded my wp-includes folder and it fixed the problem again but I’m hoping that I don’t have to keep repeating this fix every few days.

My best guess is that one of the plugins I have installed is writing to a file in my wp-includes folder and causing something to not work properly. As of right now, I’ve disabled my wp-cache and compression wp plugins because they seem like likely culprits.

I’ll let you know how it goes, but I don’t think we’re out of the woods yet.

Well, looks like it hit me again too. The exact same thing, I replaced my wp-includes folder once again and everything is back to the way it should be. The only plug-ins I have activated on my site are Askimet and Google Analytics for WordPress.

I hope there is a permanent solution to this. I still stick to my initial convictions that this is related to the latest WP version. I’ve had this site running the same for 3 years and never encountered this problem before.

Didn’t work here either. Not at all.
    No plugins activated.

UPDATE: Upgraded to the 3.1 version of WP and the Dashboard and New Post/Page are working as a charm!

But (it had to be something, didn’t it?) unfortunately, when editing all existing content (post/pages) I still can’t add more custom fields than those already set. The WYSIWUG editor fails on these, even on those posts/pages I just added…

    Anyone with tips?

I’m having the same problem. My dashboard is stuck on loading. My JetPack plugin quit working and I’m frustrated.

I lost my 1st website when websitebusiness went out of business and now wordpress isn’t working. Is there no one that you can contact in person at wordpress?
