Since upgrading to WordPress 3.13, my dashboard has become non-existent. Logging in via the Site Admin link takes me directly to posts.php and the dashboard section of the menus on the left side are nowhere to be found. Attempting to manually use URLs to reach the dashboard result in being returned to posts.php or being told the file cannot be found.

Last night, I completely uninstalled an reinstalled WordPress, and for approximately 6 hours, the dashboard was both there and the menu links to the dashboard were there. Reinstallation caused some issues with a plugin which I had previously solved, but when I returned from work today, not only were my plugin issues still there, but the dashboard and links have again disappeared. I’m completely befuddled.

You can see my site at and can note the code issues with the plugin Ajaxed WordPress at the top of each post. The dashboard issues are all behind the scenes.

  • looks like you do not have all files folders uploaded properly so try replace all files and folders except wp-content and wp-config.php and see if you can deactivate all plugins

If you don’t have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting your plugins, using ftp rename plugins folder to plugins_hold and create a blank plugins folder If that resolves the issue, delete blank plugins folder and rename original back to plugins reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

Ok, reinstalled once more, just like last night. No plugins installed. Site Admin appears fine. Dashboard page appears fine. Dashboard links are there. My “read more” links to the remainder of each entry are non-functional (they require AJAXed WordPress, I believe). I’m going to leave it overnight and see if WordPress breaks on its own again.

So after much tinkering, it seems the disappearance of my dashboard was due to the WordPress Tweaks plugin. I’ve completely disabled Ajaxed WordPress to fix the code issues. The reinstall also required me to let WordPress rebuild .htaccess in order to fix permalinks, which broke during the process. Now everything seems functional and I can’t quite tell why I had those plugins installed in the first place.
