dashboard hang fresh install

    Hi, just installed wordpress 3.5.1 on my local mac running OSX 10.5.8. When accessing the website itself it appears to work fine. When trying to login or access root/wp-admin, it hangs and times out. Going back to the main website after trying to login however, it does log me in and the control bar appears at the top.

    Most links work from there from Customize down, but these hang and time out:
    wp-admin/index.php
    wp-admin/update-core.php
    wp-admin/themes.php
    wp-admin/plugins.php
    wp-admin/import.php

    Tried BitNami bundle and DesktopServer Limited bundle, same result.

    Any ideas please?

    This can be just about anything from OS X’s firewall, to wrong hostname/ip, etc.

    We should find out what the request is, that is hanging. You can do this by installing firefox, and installing the firebug extension.

    Activate it by clicking on the bug in the upper right. Go to the net tab, enable it. Then try again.

    You’ll see all of your requests there. Look for the last one, or the one that has a spinning icon. That’s the request that’s failing: I’d post that.
