Dance Floor Theme - Colorbox Failure (19 posts)

    Hi there,
I am using the Dancefloor theme from Gorilla on WordPress.
My site works perfectly in each browser except Firefox 16.0.1!
EVEN THOUGH the demo on gorilla's website works perfectly on the same browser.

    What is wrong:
Everything works except the colorbox feature.
if you click on an image, the colorbox feature will start and then the frame where the picture is displayed in gets broken.

this happens only for me in firefox 16.0.1
i guess there must be something wrong on my side, as the demo works perfectly with the same browser.

    any suggestions?

Browser inconsistencies/problems are often due to mark-up or CSS errors, so start by validating your site:

Beyond that, you'll need to seek help from Gorilla Themes -- as commercial themes are not supported here.

You have an "under construction" page blocking the site...

Its online now. thank you so much for your help. appreciate it!

  6. Warning: the auto play of the music will cause your co-workers to stare at you in the office. Just pointing that out...

Aside from generic advice, there isn't much we can do to help you here. That's a commercial theme and even if they may be slow to respond they are still your best avenue for support of your theme.

We don't support commercial themes here in these forums.

what do you mean by the warning? u mean it could be annoying to the users if it started automatically?

Gotta agree with Jan. I looked at your site and was not sure where the colorbox issue appears. But as I suggested, I validated the home page and found quite a few errors:

    http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.prathadsan.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

In my experience, you really need to clean those up before you look for other problems, especially if the problem is not there in other browsers. Yes, it's a tedious pain in the b..., but there's really no way around it.

    Yes. ;)

And YES, it is very annoying to users to have music (or other noise) blaring from a site automatically. FWIW, I generally immediately leave any page that does that.

Ok, thanks for the advises guys. i shall disable the auto play functionality. but, have either of you got a clue, what might be disturbing the colorbox function, i mean which of the errors from here:
    http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.prathadsan.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0 ?

    appreciate your help so much!

by the way, the colorbox issue only appears with FIREFOX 16.0.1 and just go onto the main page, and click on an image from the gallery bar. it should open the image in cbox with a destroyed frame.

I just looked at it in Firefox (Mac) and had no problems at all. The only thing is that the captions on the smaller image is scrunched together, but that's just a question of space. No way to change that except to use a larger image.

Does that mean you think my border/frame of the pictures in colorbox mode get destroyed, because the image is too small or too big? is it posible for me to send you a screenshot, so that you can understand what i mean?

You can't send anything, but post it on your site or on a free image hosting site...

I don't know what you mean by "destroyed" -- the only thing I see is ONE image (#5) that is much smaller than the others and the captions are messed up because of the lack of space for the text. Try only using standard size images in the slider -- if you want to use a smaller image, add a plain (black?) background to the image before uploading it so the image is standard size.

Ah, okay, that looks like a CSS problem -- likely related to the size of the images and/or the size of the various containing elements or spacers around the images. Not simple to track down -- but you'll need to look at the colorbox.css code. You might also check to see if there is a certain size (or max size) image that it's designed for. Go back to Gorilla Themes for that.

If you are not already using it, the Firebug add-on for Firefox is a great tool for working with CSS...

But no matter what, this kind of problem is beyond these forums -- if you can't sort it, you might consider hiring someone who can do it.
