I have an image in the upper, right sidebar that shows up in Google Chrome and Firefox just fine, but in Internet Explorer, it shows up as a red x, with a white box where the picture should be.

    Here’s the website: http://www.utahoutside.com

    I’m using Magazine Basic Theme.

This has never happened to my website before, and as far as I can tell, the code is just fine. I tried multiple versions of the same image with no solution.

Also, I’m posting the image using a widget plugin that works great with all my other sidebar images.

    Any ideas on this one?

All of your sidebar images work just fine for me in IE9.

So maybe it’s only an issue with older versions of IE?

Still poses a problem as lots of people are still using those versions.

Far more likely to be your copy of IE. Perhaps you have the browser to configured to block certain kinds of images or resources?

No, I’ve checked it with multiple computers and had friends check on their computers. IE doesn’t display the image on any of them.

Have you tried using another image in that position? There’s nothing wrong with the image path but there could be a problem with the image itself that is throwing IE8 off – its encoding, for example.

Problem solved. You’re right about the jpg being encoded weird or something.

I used a clip tool to make a copy of the image and saved it as a png file. Uploaded that and it now shows up on IE.

Still can’t believe Internet Explorer couldn’t read a simple jpg.
