• Hi!

I’ve created a patch for cystats 0.9.8. The original version calculates for any first hit a visit. IMHO this is to optimistic. I found a lot of articles with the same opinion: cystats calculates to many visits.

My patch calculates hits as visits at the second hit (only at the second hit). The patch needs one query to detect “hit is not visit || hit may be a visit” and a second to detect “hit is a visit”.

A image for my idea (how to detect visits) is under this link: Image

    This is the patch: Patch

And here is the complete series about the problem (but in German).

The patch is more pessimistic than it should be. But it was the easiest way to integrate the patch.

btw, the home page for the plugin contains only nonsensical links. Does anyone know how to reach the author of CyStats?

    br, josh.

  • Thanks for making this.

How do I set this up?

    Many thanks.

Also, it seems like the “visits” are not how many unique people visit the website, but how many times a new page is loaded. I just went back and forth between a few pages and there’s already 27 visits within a few seconds…

Something is obviously wrong with this plugin. I refreshed the admin cystat panel a few times, and each time the unique visitor counter goes +1, +1, ….
