Customizing Bouquet header (8 posts)

    Hi,

    I just signed up -- so I'm probably using the latest version.

    If I choose the Bouquet theme, can I remove the blog title from
    the header? I'd like it to be in a different font, and all lower
    case letters.

    Thank you!

    Can you provide a link to your site, please, so that we can see what's going on?

    Cheers

    Hi peredur,

    http://gardenofprose.wordpress.com/

    The picture is just temporary. I'd like the words "garden of prose"
    to be in a different font, and all lower case.

    Thank you!

    This is what's creating the current style:

    #site-title {
      font: 50px "Sorts Mill Goudy","Times New Roman",serif;
      margin-bottom: 0.2em;
      text-transform: uppercase;
    }

    Note that you should make any changes in a Child Theme because it's the only recommended way of making changes to a theme. You don't absolutely have to use a child theme, but if you don't you run the risk of an update overwriting your changes.

    To make the modifications you want, you need to add a new rule to the end of your (child) theme's style sheet:

    #site-title {
      font-family: /* Your new font list goes here */;
      text-transform: none;
    }

    Remember to end your font list with a generic font.

    PAE,

    I appreciate your response! Unfortunately, I'm too computer illiterate
    to follow your instructions. I'm totally unfamiliar with code.

    But thank you anyway!

    No problem.

    If you want to make changes like this to your theme, I suggest you follow a good HTML/CSS tutorial either from a book or online, first. WordPress is very easy to modify, but you do need at least an introductory knowledge of the underlying technology.

    Until then, I suggest you just stick to whatever your chosen theme gives you, or change to another theme that is closer to what you want. There are literally thousands of free WP themes, so you should be able to find something close.

    Cheers

    btw - your site is with WordPress.com, and the dedicated support forum would be http://en.forums.wordpress.com/

    you are asking in the wrong forum as this forum here is for selfhosted sites running wordpress.org
