Customizing A Theme (3 posts)

I've been searching for themes from a variety of sources to match a current design that we have. It's a very simple, block-type design.

None of the hundreds of themes I've found (both free and not free) do exactly what I need them to do to exactly match our design, but most do give me the CSS editable pages in the admin after I've installed them.

Am I to assume that this gives me the ability to code the exact look I'm wanting? And, are all themes usually editable, provided you know code?

Anything in the free directory, yes. For commercial themes, you'd have to check with the source first to be certain, but I would guess most are editable as well.

when looking at themes not in the theme directory here, you want to look in the theme;s functions.php file for obfuscated code
this code usually won't let you edit footer and maybe other stuff

you can edit any theme's style.css
