Customising the Index page entries with tag & category lists (1 post)

    I have been customising the index page at http://blog.davelevy.info. The first step was to install the Advanced Excerpt plugin and enable the featured images.

    I have decided that I want to have a list of categories and tags at the bottom each entry as is the case on comment pages. I have done it this way, (see http://wiki.davelevy.info)

    /* for category lists */

    .post-categories ul li {list-style-type: none; display: inline; }

    and in the index.php,

    <!--- entry customisation code by dfl 16 Oct 2013 --->
          <div class="post-info-bottom">
            <span class="post-info-category">
                <?php echo get_the_category_list(','); ?>
            </span>
            <span class="post-info-tags">
                <?php echo get_the_tag_list(' ',', '); ?>
            </span>
          </div>

    I think the original authors did it a differently, and to me a less accessable mechanism.

    I made these changes in a child theme.

    Is there a reason why I shouldn't do it my way.
