    Hi

In the previous version of RM I found the CSS where I could modify the layout of the 3 lines to suit my page better. With the latest update (of RM), I haven’t been able to find it.

I’m also unable to modify the CSS via the Childtheme because you have opted (for what ever reason) to use ‘!important’ and I’m finding it a little frustrating.

Can you tell me how and/or where I can do this please?

Thank for the great menu 🙂

  • Hi Mianne,

You can find the CSS inside the following location:

    /app/models/CSSModel.php

I haven’t done anything different with the !important tag, there is still the option in the admin to turn this off if you wish, however please let me know if this isn’t working for you and I will take a look.

In addition, the 2.2 beta includes an option to set the height and width of the 3 lines (I’m not sure if this is what you need).

I hope this helps and let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Many thanks

Oh fantastic! Thanks. (That must have been the only file I managed to avoid viewing :/ )

I didn’t even realise there was an option for turning off !important tags, but have just found it. Thanks.

I will try first via child theme and go from there.

I’m only making small adjustments to make the entire area of the button smaller (yes, adjusting height and width of the lines – also colour) and also adding rounded corners to the 3 lines to match the overall theme of the site.

Thanks for the quick response (you can ignore my previous post regarding Shortcodes)

    Hey Mianne,

Great news, its best not to overwrite core plugin files however as these will be overwritten when you update the plugin.

It would be best to do it in your themes style.css file or similar to overwrite the defaults.

Let me know how you get on.

    Many thanks

Yes I understand. I keep a copy of the files I edit, for reference.

I tried using child theme to modify through style.css of course, but your plugin overwrites this file for some reason? That’s why I initially wanted to get rid of the !important tag, but that didn’t make any difference. Please correct me if I’m wrong (I’ll also try again).

    Thanks

    Mianne

    Hey Mianne,

If you use the !important tag in your style.css file and remove them from the plugin option then the ones in your style.css file should take presedence over the rest.

Please let me know if this helps?

    Many thanks

That’s probably the one combination I didn’t try! Using !important tag in my Childtheme. I’m guessing that should work?

You used the words “*should* take precedence…” ..Have you not checked this yourself (with regard to customising via Childtheme)? Wouldn’t that be easier, so you can see how it behaves yourself? 🙂

    Mianne

    Hey Mianne,

Thats the exact reason I said “should take presedence” because thats exactly whats happened everytime I have done it on my personal, client and development sites.

Unfortunately however everyones setups are different and as such I cant promise you it will work everywhere as I dont know your setup.

I am always more than willing to look at peoples issues and figure out fixes, however as yours is on localhost this isnt possible at the moment so I can only provide suggestions that I know have been proven in the past.

Please let me know if the latest way fixes the issue, if not the last resort would be to use Team View so I can see your localhost setup etc.

I hope the latest way got it working for you an have a great weekend.

    Many thanks

    Hi Peter

It’s all good. Thanks so much for all your help 🙂

I’ve learnt a few things along the way, but I have the menu working just the way I’d like it at the moment. It’s perfect, thanks!

I only added one line of formatting to the CSSmodel file, and that was to add rounded corners to the lines. I know it will be overwritten with updates, but it’s a minor issue.

    Thanks again 🙂

    Mianne

    Hey Mianne,

That’s great that you’ve got it working and learnt some stuff along the way, we are always learning!

Let me know if you require anything else in future.

    Many thanks

    Peter
