MailChimp List Subscribe Form
Custom URL Signup "thank you" page ignored after Form Submission (5 posts)

    Hi Gang again!

So I've set up a custom URL Signup "thank you" page to redirect users after they submitted their info via the form.
For some reason I am redirected to my blog's main page and NOT to the custom URL Thank You page I created.

However - if I test the form via the "Signup from URL" in MailChimp, I am redirected to the correct Thank You page.

Looks like the plugin form ignores the Thank You page redirect.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks!

    Hey Gabstero,

Any chance you could post a link to your website with the plugin active so I could take a look?

    Thanks for help.

    The page is here: http://photogabi.com/gablog-2/

I ended up using the actual form from MailChimp (top right sidebar), but for debugging sake I temporarily included the MailChimp widget under the Categories list (called TEMP MAILCHIMP) on the same page right sidebar.
The confirmation I am getting after the email is submitted appears in green right above the email field:
"Success, you've been signed up! Please look for our confirmation email!"
instead of sending me to the the "thank you" page as in the case of signing up with the regular MailChimp form on the same page at the top.

(which I understand it's still functional but I prefer a full fledged custom "thank you" page where I prompt subscribers to check their emails to confirm their subscription)

    thanks!

    Hey Gabster,

Thanks for the reply! This is in fact an intentional difference between the WordPress plugin form and the MailChimp embed + hosted forms. The plugin form does not provide an option to redirect to a custom URL (or use an existing one set in the MailChimp account) and is designed to utilize an on-page success/error message instead. Noting that, I'd be happy to pass along your request to have that as an additional feature of the plugin.

The best alternative to ensure that your subscribers are taken to a custom thank you page URL is to use the MailChimp embed code (or a link to the MailChimp-hosted form), which is what you've already done!

If you have any additional questions in the mean time, feel free to post back here and I'd be happy to help!

Thought so - no big deal, it's still a great plugin. Would be nice to have maybe an option in the admin to redirect to a custom thank you page. It might make it simpler for people who are not comfortable with copy/paste form code.

    Thanks!
    Gabster
