custom theme and JavaScript confusions

well, I’ve tried to create my own theme based on Kubrick in utilizing my rudimentary skills to try to add some JavaScript in but I’m having some conflicts.

The effect I would like would essentially function when the user rolls over a text link in the navigation bar the various pictures will swap and show. like this website:

I started by trying with my index.PHP with one main image and swapping that main image for images corresponding to various links. This has been successful although now my journal or other content appears below the photo.

Is there a simple fix to have each standalone page exhibit their content but still have the ability to swap images. My current working attempt at making my own theme can be found at
