   can someone link me to an article regarding editing the smilie codes? i want to add my own smiles. i read this guide, the the Ars Aranea link is currently down: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Smilies

   It also gives you the ability to show the smileys near your Comments box for the users, which is great. They recently upgraded this feature so it works even better, with a "More" drop-down area.
