Custom Site Structure (4 posts)

I have an old website that is in desperate need of a redesign. It has hundreds and hundreds of incoming links that generate a huge amount of traffic. I also get a large amount of SEO traffic to a few pages.

I'm considering using WP for the new site and as a CMS.

Because of the incoming links and high levels of SEO traffic on a few specific pages of the old site, I need to keep the structure of the overall site and URLs the same.

    Is that possible in WP?

For example, many of the most critical pages currently have a url like this:

    http://domain-name/directory/subdirectory/index.html

Will I be able to recreate this structure in WP?

You can recreate this structure. However, be advised that if you have a large site (ie - a lot of pages), that kind of directory structure can cause your site to run slower. As long as you're not getting into the thousands of pages, you should be okay. To add the .html to the end have a look at this page: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Having_your_posts_end_in_.html.

Thanks. I also found a plugin called Custom Permalinks that looks like it might be really helpful.

Glad to help. If you're all set, please mark this as 'resolved.'
