Custom sidebar way down on bottom (12 posts)

    My sidebar only has a problem on the bbpress pages. It's on the correct side of the page but it's way down toward the bottom of the page, including the login information. I use TwerntyEleven theme.

    I tried different sidebars and disabled all plugins. Nothing helps.

    I did a search here and there are many posts about this from 2007-8-9 (that don't help) but the only answers all the resent posts are "There are many posts about this - do a search!" But no one actually answers!

    sidebar errors are sometimes caused by unclosed or erraneous html tags, often divs;
    does your site validate? http://codex.wordpress.org/Validating_a_Website
    http://validator.w3.org/

    if you post a link to the problem page, somebody might be able to assist with the search for the cause.

    if you are using a page template for the bbpress pages, check my related post http://www.transformationpowertools.com/wordpress/twenty-eleven-new-page-template-with-sidebar-correction

    Looks promising... What goes here: 'new-sidebar-page-template-file-name.php' ?

    I didn't make a new file. I just added bbpress and have a child theme that only has a style.css file with a few changes.

    Any sidebar on all the pages are fine. Only on the bbpress forms page, the sidebar is not correct. This forum doesn't have a page. It's url is http://vinewoodstudios.com/tips/?post_type=forum

    replace:

    <div id="container">
    			<div id="content" role="main">

    with:

    <div id="primary">
    			<div id="content" role="main">

    also, do validate your site: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fvinewoodstudios.com%2Ftips%2F%3Fpost_type%3Dforum&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

    I'll check that out. I forgot to mention that I did validate my site and there were 17 errors, most have nothing to do with me so I wouldn't know how to fix those errors.

    div id="container">
    <div id="content" role="main">

    What file would I find this in? I searched in style.css and functions.php

    that would be in the page template used for the bbpress;

    or how did you integrate the bbpress into your site?

    The page template used for bbpress is bbpress.css it doesn't have those lines in it.

    I integrated it into the site by uploading the files to the plugins folder and activating the plugin.

    bbpress.css is not a page template.

    the <div id="container"> is not from Twenty Eleven, therefore I assume it got introduced either into the page template or by the plugin.

    can you post the download link of the bbpress plugin?

    what is the full code of the page template for the bbpress?

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress/

    I don't know the code of the page template of bbpress because when I go into wordpress\wp-content\plugins\bbpress\bbp-themes\bbp-twentyten\style.css it only says: * This file intentionally left blank. Styles are enqueued in functions.php

    But there is no file called functions.php in the bbpress folder. There is only one in the wordpress\wp-content\themes\twentyeleven folder and that file doesn't have the lines you asked me to modify either.

    the 'theme package' you have chosen, is not compatible with Twenty Eleven;

    under
    dashboard - settings - forum - Theme Packages (How your forum content is displayed within your existing theme) Current Package: choose 'bbPress Default -...'

    and see how this works with your site.

    or post your question directly in the dedicated forum http://bbpress.org/forums/
