Custom sidebar has no link for logon/out (2 posts)

    I'm running WordPress on Ubuntu Server 8.04 (Hardy) and have installed the distributed version which is WordPress 2.3.3.

    When I try to use the widgets for customizing the Sidebar it seems there is no way to put the link for logon/out in the sidebar. As best I can tell if I committed such a change I could end up without any way to navigate to the logon/out. I suppose there is a URL, which I presently don't know, that would allow me to logon/out but I would like to have such a link on the Sidebar.

    Can anyone help?

    First off, I would strongly recommend updating to the current version of WordPress (2.8.5 as of this writing).

    The standard 'Meta' widget includes, amongst other items, a login/logout link.

    You could also make use of this function: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_loginout (After you update to version 2.8+) ... adding it to your sidebar.php file in an appropriate place.
