   I have read through many articles and even read through the code but I can not get my custom post to work.
   It shows up in the dashboard and lets you create a new post or see the list of posts. But when you click view it 404's you.
   I copied single.php and renamed it and the same for archive.php Also, I tried with both Twenty Ten and Twenty Eleven themes.

   Go to settings > permalinks and click update. This should fix the problem.

   If that doesn't work, do some digging on "flush rewrite rules" - I've run into this problem on a few sites and have found a variety of different ways to fix it.
