    Hello

I think I know what I am looking for, but now find myself a bit confused.

I am writing a theme for a site that will have 2 different types of posts:

    • -1 post type that has images floated to the left with text to the right (it will have the appearance of a two column post, mimicking the style of a textbook).

-1 post type that has a the text to the left (the body of which will be equal to the photos in the above post type) with a pattern image floated to the right (this image taking place of the text shown in the post above)

I have been looking at Custom Post Types, and have created one, but I am not sure if it is what I actually should be using...

If it is, I am confused how to integrate Custom Post Types to the feed (where to put it in the loop) so that all of the posts are shown in chronological order. In other words, I want all posts (including the new custom one) to be treated the same, though each will differ structurally.

I am creating a child theme based off of Starkers.

Any help or advice would be great!

I don't think that you need custom post types. It sounds more like you just need to create two templates so that you can assign those to your posts/pages when you create them.

There's a lot of information here but it's pretty easy - certainly easier then setting up custom post types!
