   When I write my custom permalinks as /%page_id% and update the page from edit pages then in the preview of that page I get error 404 page not found, but when the permalinks are set at default as http:/localhost/mysite/?p=N the pages are displayed. What shall I do to display pages at my custom permalinks.

   Did you make your .htaccess file?

   Is your localhost install set up with Mod Rewrite?
