   Hi Gurus,

   I understand child themes and have already created one for this purpose, just fyi.

   I've also created a custom template from page.php... we'll call it "customtemplate.php" for this purpose.

   Does anyone know of a tutorial that can explain how to create and call a custom header.php from my "customtemplate.php" that i could modify, much like the widget "Text"?

   Thank in advance.

   replace get_header(); in your page template for instance with get_header('custom');
   and create a header-custom.php header template file.

   you could then add a custom widget area into that header template.
