Without making any changes to the back end, and checking to ensure the health of the DB is ok, I am suddenly no longer able to add custom fields to pages or posts.

When I click the “Add custom field” button, it appears to save the info I’ve entered, but when I hit Publish, the changes are not saved and there are no custom fields associated with the post. Anyone have this problem before, or know what could be causing it?

    Thanks!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

Thanks! I changed the theme and that fixed the problem. There was some code in the custom.php area that was causing the problem, and I didn’t really need that feature anyway. Thanks for the tip!
