   Hi there,

   I am developing a WordPress theme but I'm having trouble with the_excerpt();.

   I only wish to use the Custom Excerpt field and to show that when it contains content. But, if I don't write anything in the 'Custom Excerpt' field, in the admin panel, it will then show the default. I don't want this.

   I need something like the_custom_excerpt();, which only shows content IF there is any contained within 'Custom Excerpt'.

   Any ideas?

   Try using this plugin to create a custom excerpt field, then change the template for that page to only display the title and the custom excerpt field. If you don't populate the custom excerpt field, it'll just display the title.
