[resolved] Custom directories with .htacess privs (2 posts)

    If you create a directory inside a WP install, you can access it normally. Say, domain.com/wiki . But if you put a normal .htaccess file in that wiki directory to limit access, you don't get the http authentication dialog. Instead, WordPress tries to handle the URL and you get a WP 404 instead.

    I don't understand what causes this. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Found the solution to this one here. But note that the paths shown must be docroot relative, not server root relative.
