• I turned off the comments on the blog I am a webmaster for that is in the Custom Community theme: http://leighcranefreeman.com/ Now I need them back on and I can’t seem to get them to turn back on. I have tried going into Settings/Discussion and turning them on, but they are still off. I also had downloaded the “Disable Comments” plugin and have since uninstalled it, but the comments are still off.

Does anyone have any idea about how to get the comments re-established?

    Thank you in advance,
    Jenny

  • I’ve no experience with the theme, but, can you check the following settings:

    1. Dashboard > Settings > Discussion > “Automatically close comments on articles older than”

    2. Dashboard > Posts > Quick Edit a Post > check “Allow Comments”

It might be that the comments are turned off for each post individually.

Hi There and thanks for the reply. I think that I had to take out something in the code to get the comments to disappear (nothing in the Dashboard seemed to take the comments off) for the Custom Community theme. Now I don’t know what I need to add back into the code to make it work again.

I did check what you suggested above and both seem to be checked/unchecked accordingly.

Any idea on the code addition?

If you create a new post, are the comments enabled on it?

No, the comments are enabled on posts either. I think we figured it out. The answer was to use the “screen options” in the upper right hand corner of the wp-admin. Then ticking the comments and discussion options.

    Thanks,
    Jenny
