I am ATTEMPTING TO set up a network with wordpress 3.0.1 Multi Sites

aS the extra sites are created internally from the parent site,
how would you install the customised blogs in these add-on sites.?

They cannot be uploaded to the root file

    Any advise would be appreciated

    Regards

    Not sure what you mean.

How do you add in *existing* sites to the network?
How do you customize the sites you create?

    Which one?

I am not too familier with scripts and wordpress3.0.1 Multi Sites’ But I shall, try

With wp-3.0.1 multi Sits, sub domains are created via the parent wordpress domain

But what if you have a custom built or pre-formated wordpress site that comes with it’s own: image file, wp-content and wp-config.php file.php file

You can’t upload it as a theme and you can’t alter the parent
wp-config.php file in the root file!

I have tried creating an individial folder, and seperate MySQL data base (updating the wp-config.php file) and uploading everthing to this folder.

But cannot access this from the back end/Dashboard of the multi site sub domain

Hope this makes a little more sence

Or should I just forget about aquireing pre-foremated Nich wordpress sites?

then you’re trying to integrate an exisiting site into the network. it doesn’t work how you think it does.

Yes, you CAN upload whatever theme & plugins they gave you.

For the content,. you’ll need a wordpress Export file, not a db file.

    Thanks for the advise.
I disected the package. Removed theme, images and plugins as you explained. Customised and uploaded the content individually. And finished up with the finished site. Albeit the long way round !!. But where’s there’s a will, there’s always a way.

    Thanks again
