Custom author archives (1 post)

    Hi all,

    This is my WIP website:

    http://www.bobcatterritory.com

What I want to do is customize the default author archives, so that each one will have its own title and description at the top of the page (instead of the default "Author Archives: name").

I just find the entry in the WordPress codex to be confusing; I don't really understand where to begin. It tells me to create a new template, which I have no idea how to do (I am on the WordPress editor page and there is no option to create anything). Also, I don't really understand .php code.

Is there a plug-in released that allows you to manipulate this feature easily? Or can I simply have a IF/THEN loop in the template file that just tells it to display different things based on author ID? I mean, it is already accessing the author ID to display their name, how do I modify this so it is contingent on what the ID is? (Also, how do I find the author ID # associated with each author)?

I apologize if these questions are stupid, but I am pretty new to this, and am having a hard time following the instructions in the Codex.

    Thanks in advance!
