I've seen quite a few nifty blogs(cant think of any links) where they have a Currently reading section in the sidebar with 6 images tiled [3 a row] and links to Amazon... and the same goes for music too.
I would say CHAIT but that only covers linking... There used to be a plugin which did this automatically.
Any help appreciated

What does that mean?
CG-Amazon is definitely used by a lot of folks for reading/listening sidebars. Without more definition, I'm not sure what you are asking for that it doesn't provide, or what you are trying to understand.
