I believe that is what the "Lost Password" link on the login page is for. It will email a link to the user that they must click on, which will cause the system to reset the password and email the new password to the user. They can then change it after they log in to whatever they want ( and can remember ).
If the "Lost Password" link doesn't exist on your login page, perhaps the theme removed it. You would need to send them to:
http://domain.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
of course, replace domain.com with YOUR domain name.
I believe WordPress stores the passwords in an encrypted state, and without being the world's greatest hacker, you can't read it out and email it to them. You have to reset the password.
the problem is that I use Register Plus (plugin) and it allows you to change the password to whatever the user wants to use, on a custom registration (username, email and password only).
However if the user forgets the password a cryptic one is sent to him/her, and there is no way to let the user reset the password without displaying the WP registration/profile page which I don't want users to see.
Why don't you want users to see their profile page? Without another plugin that would be the only place they could change their password, AFAIK. I don't use the Register Plus plugin so I am afraid I can't be of much more help to you, sorry.
I would like the users not to see the WP pages and I don't think that you can convert the profile page (and the other WP) to display as part of the theme I am planning to use, unless there is a plugin that does that. But I have not see one.
I also don't need any of the other information on the profile page, just email address and password.
It sounds like you are trying to use WordPress but completely hide the fact that you are using this wonderful, FREE program. Shame-shame - not something I would ever do. I am proud that I use WordPress and although I don't flaunt it on my web sites, I certainly don't go out of my way to hide it.

I don't know if you can style the profile page as I have never tried to do that. I found this thread http://wordpress.org/support/topic/159604?replies=8 that talks about styling the profile page - and there is a link in the last post (as of right now) that may have a plugin you can use. However, I can't look at it here at the office so I can't be sure.
Good luck. If you find a way you should let the community know - because I guess quite a few people have asked about it.
I don't think you should be made to feel bad for trying to conceal you are using wordpress. You are probably branding a membership site or something and would like to maintain that brand theme anywhere they go - I know the situation well.
WordPress IS a phenomenal software but you are under no obligation to tell people you are using it - just can't sell it, which I doubt you are doing.

You didn't understand what I am doing.
First, every WordPress site we build has a Highslide credit pop-up that credits WordPress and every plugin used in the site (with links to the WordPress site and each plugin developer's site), which is more then 90% of the WordPress sites I have seen to date.
I want a user to be able to reset their password without displaying the full profile page, which includes things we don't want them to access. I was just looking for a plugin that may do this.
This would be a natural extension of Register Plus but it doesn't do this.
