CSS won't update - working on test site but not on actual blog (6 posts)

    Hey all!
I have a problem updating CSS.
It takes the changes, but doesn't update them on the actual blog. It won't let me change anything..
Does anyone have an idea what might cause that? A plugin maybe?

My first guess would be cache. Either server cache, WordPress cache (any cache plugin's running?) or browser cache.

The later one can be easily cleaned; in IE press F12 and find the button 'clear cache', in Firefox, Safari and Chrome it's under the preferences menu.

    Thanks for the quick reply!
I've actually tried viewing the changes in different browsers and cleaning the cache on all of them..
The website is for a client and she's using CloudFlare (which I thought might be causing the problem). I already tried disabling and emptying the cache with it disabled though. Still no luck..

Are you editing the CSS file in WordPress itself or are you directly editting the file?

Are there any other CSS files loaded that might overrule your previous edits? Have you tried adding !important to your rules? It's not good practice but it at least lets you see if the file's being updated...

I'm editing the CSS file in WordPress, but also checked through FTP to see if the file is actually updating - which it is.

I have just tried adding !important to the rules, which unfortunately didn't help.
There shouldn't be anything overwriting the rules, though, since I added them myself.
I'm trying to get a plugin to work that displays thumbnails and titles from a category on a page. It just won't take the styling. Grr..

Maybe this bit information will help.. I am using the Genesis Framework with a custom child theme.

I'm having the same problem as niftythriftythings. I am also using the Genesis Framework with a custom child theme. The Child Theme is Outreach. What is yours?
