[resolved] CSS Not Always Reaching Client (4 posts)

    I have 2 different WP blogs on our site. I have seen occasional instance where a page loads w/o the CSS being applied (unformatted). A shift refresh seems to fix.

    A colleague in another state sees this more often. Is a page load w/o delivery of CSS (a) a client issue (needs to empty cache/Temporary Files); or (b) something I can remedy on the server side?

    I sure wish I could get a reply ;-)

    This *seems* to happen mostly with users of Firefox, one sent me a screen shot link to flickr:

    Not much can be offered without seeing a link. We have no idea what's in your code to cause this type of issue - anything we might say would be a stab in the dark.

    Well yes, duh. The only thing is that it seems to happen infrequently. It shows up on http://virtualworlds.nmc.org/ the one shown in the flickr link as well as http://www.nmc.org/sl/

    My hunch was it had something to do with using in my header template, a style sheet reference for the roating banners that uses Image Rotator (http://www.hiveware.com/imagerotator.php)

    <style type="text/css" media="screen">
    #header {background:black url(".../themes/.../images/banners/rotate.php") top left no-repeat;}
    </style>

    It seems better behaved when I reowrote the function to just return the name of the file, and embed in the style:
